iPhone and iPad Basics Class

March 26, 2015     |     By

We provide a variety of hour long basic classes for your computing needs. One of our most popular classes is our iPhone and iPad Basics which we host once a month on the first or second Wednesday at the 360 Technology Solutions office. Our address is at the end of this post. Follow this link to see our calendar of upcoming classes: Classes Calendar

Our iPhone and iPad Basics class will provide an overview of your iPhone and iPad along with some helpful tips to keep your device secure. We also show you how to maneuver within your device, what some of the settings do, and aim to provide you with the confidence and knowledge to try some things on your own. We encourage you to bring your device to follow along with a hands-on approach. We believe the students should lead the class, not the teacher.

We have space for 8 people in our classroom for our regularly scheduled class at an affordable price of $15! If you sign up with a friend, your cost is reduced to $12 per person! That's a great deal for an hour of instruction. Our classes fill up quickly so call us 910-399-4898 or email us This email address is being protected from spambots. Microsoft/Windows Tech Scammers

March 26, 2015     |     By

Believe it or not, 360 Technology Solutions has received calls to our office in Wilmington, NC from "Microsoft" saying our Windows computers are at risk. We've always answered politely that we are a computer and device repair company and assure them our computers are not at risk. If they were, we would not be a good computer repair company! Even with that answer, the "technicians" become very pushy until we're forced to hang up.

Have you received calls similar to this? Some or our customers have said they've received calls and are almost convinced by the false information provided to them. Rest assured, Microsoft WILL NOT call you! Please do not give out any of your personal information to these people or allow them to remote into your computer. They are looking to steal information or looking to get you to pay for a service you do not need. They may even try to install a malicious program that could steal your information and/or crash your computer forcing you to pay to "fix" it.

Please be weary. In this day and age, people are bold with their scamming tactics and have moved from email to phone calls. Microsoft has provided a good article on this topic: Microsoft Security - Avoiding Phone Scams

If you have any concerns or questions, or feel you may have unknowingly given your information to one of the scammers, let us know and we can help! Call us 910-399-4898 and we can provide FREE guidance.

Windows 10 is Coming and it's FREE

January 23, 2015     |     By

WOW!!!!  We can't wait for Windows 10 to arrive.  It has no official release date, only "later this year," but it's being eagerly awaited, especially for those stuck with Windows 8.1.  Microsoft listened and Microsoft answered.

What does this mean to you?  Well, if you're a Windows 7 or 8.1 user you can upgrade to Windows 10 FOR FREE, let me repeat that, FOR FREE!!!!

This is great customer service from Microsoft in answer to much public disappointment with Windows 8 and their attempt to resolve some issues with the release of 8.1.  This information comes directly from the EVP of Operating Systems Terry Myerson's Blog on Microsoft.com.  You can read the blog post here along with details about Windows 10 features: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/01/21/the-next-generation-of-windows-windows-10/

What do you need to do?  Nothing for now.  Once the official release date of Windows 10 is announced, you will have one year from that date to take advantage of the free upgrade.

What do you need to check?  Verify your version of Windows.  If you're on Windows 8 and have been avoiding that annoying update, you're going to have to do it.  It's a large update so you'll need to set aside some time.  If you have any questions, give us a call, we'll be happy to assit.  910-399-4898

Continue to follow us as we'll keep you informed on Windows 10 announcements.

Training Employees on Internet Use

January 08, 2015     |     By

I came across this article on Twitter posted from Wired.com this morning http://www.wired.com/2015/01/german-steel-mill-hack-destruction/?mbid=social_twitter

Reading between the lines, it reinforces the fact that employees need to be properly trained to use the internet and email in addition to the specifics of their business.  If that one person (or persons) hadn't opened an attachment or visited a suspect website, the hackers would never have been able to access the steel mill.

Now these examples in the article may not seem relevant to you but the facts are: technology is present everywhere and you're connected.  If you're a business owner, do you feel confident that your employees are properly trained on internet use and email basics or even that you, yourself, are properly trained?  If you have medical files, are you 100% confident that data is unreachable?  Maybe those electronic files are HIPAA compliant but is your staff practicing safe internet and email habits?  Even on a personal, individual basis, do you feel like you're properly trained?

360 Technology Solutions in Wilmington, NC can help!  We provide classes in house or on site to ensure you are armed with the knowledge to avoid those pesky hackers, viruses, and malware.  Even if you aren't local, give us a call if you have a question or concern, we'd be glad to help!
